The choices for traveling across the country are great and offer people everything they need, regardless of the method they choose. While that is true today, not too long ago people had just one way to go far distances: Trains! They sparked the imaginations of children everywhere, had adults living life and seeing the world as if it was all a fantasy, and brought about a new and more convenient way to get somewhere. Trains had become popular with people of all ages and made life easier, but time did not help them. With the invent of planes and cars came the near end of trains. Everything they provided to people was no longer needed, especially since most people had their own private car. Amtrak exists because the government wanted to save the rails and keep them up, which is exactly what they did.
Today, a large number of people use Amtrak and many, many more have heard of it or seen them somewhere. One of the biggest reasons for their existence was to provide riders with a more modern ride, one full of everything that is now expected of public transport. Amtrak has delivered on this and given every person, from the child with wonder in their eyes to the elderly person reliving their own childhood, a ride to enjoy and remember. As technology continues to advance, the train systems will go with it, not be left behind, and grow and provide more conveniences to its riders.
As our communities and society as a whole grow, it becomes necessary to have more ways to travel. Cutting down on the pollution produced by cars and planes, as well as reduce the need for destruction to make room for more highways and airports, has given Amtrak the opportunity to grow. Trains provide people with a more affordable and easy way to move about the country, and they will continue to offer more as time goes on. With more convenience and a better ride overall, Amtrak proves that, regardless of what happened before their creation, they will continue to grow and provide people with a reliable way to travel.
